What is the gas and charcoal consumption of the DuoKwik BBQ per use?

It uses less than 60g of gas to light the charcoal and less than 500g of charcoal per barbeque;

500g of good quality charcoal will provide enough heat to cook 2-3 lots of meat without having to add any extra charcoal;

500g of good quality charcoal will cook a full veggie parcel for 40 minutes as well as a full barbeque of meat thereafter.
Can I use wood instead of charcoal in the DuoKwik?
Yes, the DuoKwik will just as easily ignite wood as it will charcoal, however, depending on the type of wood you have and its moisture content, the wood may take longer to ignite with the gas than charcoal would. If you choose wood as the fuel source, please make sure to use logs that have been cut sufficiently small to fit into the bowl. If they are too long and extend way beyond the bowl, they may fall out once ignited and cause a burn and fire hazard or they may cause uneven weight distribution and cause the whole DuoKwik appliance to become unstable and topple over, again causing a burn and fire hazard.
Can I use briquettes instead of charcoal in the DuoKwik?
Yes, the DuoKwik works equally well with briquettes as it does with charcoal and the choice between these two fuel sources is simply down to user preference.
How often does the DuoKwik bowl need to be cleaned?

This depends on user preference, but it generally only needs to be cleaned after an extended period of use (after returning from a long camping trip, etc). After each use it is sufficient to scrape any stubborn ash lumps loose with a stick and knock this out to leave the bowl free of ash debris and ready for the next use.

The bowl remains amazingly clean as the dripping fat is absorbed by the charcoal/ash which is tipped out once it has cooled.
Where can I purchase a replacement rubber seal for the DuoKwik stem connection to the gas
cylinder?
You can purchase this directly from the Spares page on our website or at any shop that supplies O-rings. The specification for the seal is as follows: Nitrile O-ring 16mm x 3mm.
What happens if I cannot clear a blocked jet with the jet cleaning wire provided?

You can remove the connector unit from the stem by removing the two securing screws using a Torx T8 screwdriver bit and then removing the connector unit from the stem by sliding it out of the stem. Once removed you can unscrew the jet from the connector using a 7mm spanner and then attempt to unblock the jet again manually using the cleaning wire. If this is successful, screw the jet back into the connector and tighten securely to ensure there is no gas leak. Insert the connector back into the stem and replace the two securing screws, preferably using a drop of thread-lock adhesive to ensure that these screws do not easily work loose during future use of the DuoKwik.
